This is a fun and tactile way to teach your child his or her name or to focus on word blends and rhyming words with preschool/kindergarten age children. I painted the craft sticks I was using for vowels the color blue and the ones I was using for consonants the color red. That’s simply because my children are used to a Montessori moveable alphabet which is colored in the same way. There are a lot of extension activities that can be done with this activity with children who are 5, 6 and 7. They can identify parts of speech and make sentences with the various words they make.
Materials: craft sticks, envelope, tape, stapler, paper, marker, and a ruler.
