Sea Shell ABC Matching

While at the beach this weekend, I chose 26 shells to bring home for an ABC matching game for my 4 year old.

Printable: ABC Letters (.PDF)

I colored 13 of them with a red dot and 13 of them with a yellow dot to correspond with the attached ABC letter template. I then used a sharpie to write letters of the alphabet on each one.

I used 4 different mini solo cups (dollar store purchase). One for all the yellow letters, one for all the yellow shells, one for all the red letters and one for all the red shells. Having them separated helps my son be more successful with the matching for right now.

I used a small muffin tin for the sorting activity.

Materials: Muffin tin, printable (below), 4 solo cups, red and yellow marker, 26 sea shells, and a sharpie.

Modifications:

This can be modified without using the printable and matching uppercase letters to lower case letters (you just need another 26 sea shells instead). My oldest is using this same activity to build words using the sea shells.
