Water Cycle

We enjoyed time up at our family lake home in the Adirondack Mountains of New York and thought it would be a good opportunity to teach my 1st grader about the water cycle while looking at the beautiful lake. Below are the resources I created and/or found along with video links and books I used. I hope you find having these documents all in one place useful if you also choose to teach about the water cycle.

The Books I Used (most are available at the public library):

Click here for Water Cycle Sorting (.PDF) I printed in black and white, but the images on the document are in color.

Click here for Water Cycle Science Experiment Prediction Sheet (.PDF) This goes along with a “making the clouds rain” science experiment where you will need 2 glasses to hold liquid, blue food coloring, shaving cream, and medicine dropper (we used a straw but a dropper would work better). Full instructions can be found by clicking here.

Click here for cut outs for Water Cycle Craft (.PDF). We ended up using blue Fruit Loops cereal inside of each rain drop and we chose to also include marshmallows for some of the clouds! Food always makes learning more fun!

Click here for a Water Cycle Flipbook to purchase from Teachers Pay Teachers website. The cost is $1.89 to purchase.
